In 1897, Rondebosch Boys’ High School started out in a small hired church hall with 8 pupils. Enrolment increased rapidly, and soon, the school was moved to a site on Campground Road, where the Preparatory School is housed today. As of 1949, the High School occupies the nearby large Canigon Estate.
Cricket came of age in 1924 with the appointment of a professional coach, Jack Newman of Hampshire.
Rondebosch has produced several International cricket players including Gary Kirsten, John Commins, and HD Ackermann, with Jonathan Trott playing for England
